The Bachelor 21x08 Roundtable: Home Again, Home Again [Contributors: Rebecca, Patti, Alisa]

On this week's episode of The Bachelor, it's time for hometown visits! Viewers finally get to meet Raquel, and Rebecca, Patti, and Alisa discuss their favorite hometown dates, plus who'll get the boot.

Which hometown date was your favorite?

Rebecca: I loved Vanessa’s hometown date. I thought it was interesting that she took Nick to meet both sides of her family separately, as I feel like divorced families in the past have come together for the hometown date; however, this is more realistic. If they end up together, they will be going to two Christmases, two Thanksgivings, two Easters, etc. And we HAVE to talk about Vanessa’s students. They were so excited and happy for her. She’s great with them and you can tell how much she cares about them and how much they love her.

Patti: Vanessa’s by a landslide! It was so clear how loved she is by her students and colleagues, which is a far cry from the store salespeople who “love” Corinne and her platinum va... uh, I mean, card. Rachel’s hometown date was incredibly interesting, and most definitely the most political the show has ever let itself get, which I think is a sign of the times. Hopefully we get to meet Rachel’s father when she is the Bachelorette!

Alisa: Vanessa, hands down. She seems like such a genuine person and did a great job of showing Nick what daily life looks like for her, and what it would look like for them if they end up together.

Was Raquel everything you’d hoped and dreamed?

Rebecca: I think the show built her up to be much more. I pictured her floating into the kitchen, holding a diamond-encrusted plate full of cheese pasta with a halo around her head. In reality, she seems like a very normal, very sweet woman who just so happens to be employed by a ridiculously rich family with a ridiculous daughter. I thought it was hilarious that she had a one-on-one conversation with Nick like she was one of Corinne’s parents. And as funny as the GoFundMe that was started to “save” Raquel from Corinne and her family, she does seem happy. She seems well paid and well taken care of, and that’s all that matters.

Patti: Nope. I wanted her to be loud and saucy and I wanted it to be obvious that she called the shots. Also, it bothered me that Raquel had a special sit-down chat with Nick, but they still made her serve everyone lunch. It seemed exploitative.

Alisa: Yeah, I agree with Rebecca and Patti. “Meeting” Raquel was anti-climactic. I thought it was weird that she had to cook and then serve the whole meal but then also ate with them? Maybe I’ve been watching too many Downton Abbey reruns but it just seemed strange. Like, doesn’t she ever get some time to herself, away from the people she works for? I wouldn’t want to have to eat with the people that I wait on, but that’s just me. She seemed like a lovely person and it was obvious she genuinely cares for Corinne, but the show didn’t need to build up the hype like they did.

Who do you think Nick sends home after hometowns and why?

Rebecca: Corinne, because there is no way she’s made it this far because of her connection with Nick. She’s been a prop strategically used by the producers to stir the pot and get people talking about the show. I think she made it to hometowns so Raquel could get her time on the camera. I also think Corinne will go home because Reality Steve says so.

Patti: Corinne. She’s served her purpose on the show. I’m ready for her to show up on Bachelor in Paradise now.

Alisa: As much as I would love it to be Corinne, I’m thinking Rachel gets sent home now. Obviously, we all know she’s been named the next Bachelorette, so she’s going home at some point. But I think it’s now because Nick was super uncomfortable with her family and I don’t think he’s ready to deal with all that comes with an interracial relationship. But instead of recognizing his own issues, he going to convince himself his “connection” with Corinne and Raven is just stronger than what he has with Rachel.

And, as we do every week, here are our Fantasy Bachelor League standings:

  1. Chelsea (680 points)
  2. Patti (650 points)
  3. Rae (520 points)
  4. Alisa (440 points)
  5. Rebecca (420 points)
